Moxie* represents the work of a handful of artists on a regular basis, but from time to time I end up with a few pieces from artists who don’t normally show art here. At the moment I have a couple of small (10″ x 8″) acrylic paintings by Nova Scotian artist Shelley Mansel, and one acrylic painting by New Brunswick artist Nancy Morin. Can I be crass? Yes, of course I can, it’s my blog and I can do anything I want. These pieces areĀ a deal, and I have them for a short while only. Shelley Mansel is an up-and-coming artist whose 8 x 10’s are fetching around $900. And i am offering these flower paintings by her for $499… If I don’t sell them, they will go to another dealer, who will put the price up immediately. If you like her work, now’s the time to jump at the chance while you can. If your interest is piqued, please go to my Image Gallery page to see all of these works.
This is the third day of the Scarecrow Festival in Mahone Bay. I’m not sure if it’s a benefit to art galleries or not, but there are certainly a lot of people on the streets. The latest exhibition at moxie* is called “Autumn Light” and opened on Friday.
The weather here in Nova Scotia has been lovely the past week; sunny days and blue skies for the most part, and the leaves are just starting to change colour. The best time of year!

To tell the truth, it did not do a lot of damage that I can see. Interestingly, It is five years to the date that Nova Scotia’s Atlantic shore was hit by Hurricane Juan, which caused a huge amount of damage.
Our present show at Moxie* is called “LARGE & small” and is almost over. There is a lot of delicious work up right now, if you can I urge you to come in and have a look. Carol Ann McNeil’s two large red-dominant paintings show a new line of development in her art. And large pieces by David Taylor and Lynda Shalagan helped anchor the show. There’s an art to hanging a show, and I’m really just learning. It sure is a lot of fun.

At last, I am ready to start the moxie* gallery blog. My plan is to go back to the beginning and work up to the present… and keep everyone up-to-date on what is happening now at moxie*.
